The parish center of a Springfield church was struck as law enforcement officers chased a stolen early Monday morning, according to a police report.
Springfield Police Division officers were called to assist the Ohio State Highway Patrol as they were pursuing a stolen car heading westbound on East High Street at about 3:50 a.m. Monday morning.
As the vehicle passed Penn Street, officers used stop sticks to slow it down. The vehicle turned into the parking lot of the St. Raphael’s Parish Center, 237 E. High St. As it was still moving, a highway patrol helicopter told officers all four occupants left the car.
The car continued to roll and struck the parish center, the report said. The building was not damaged, the report said.
A 17-year-old juvenile was listed as the driver of the stolen Dodge Avenger, the report said. All four suspects were taken into custody and released to the Delaware County Ohio State Patrol.
