A Springfield man is facing charges after he allegedly punched a pregnant woman in the face multiple times Sunday evening, according to a police report.
Timothy E. Carey, 47, has been charged with one count of domestic violence. He’s expected to appear in Clark County Municipal Court at 10:30 a.m. today.
Springfield Police Division officers were sent to a home in the 400 block of East Madison Avenue at about 11:45 p.m. Sunday night. Upon arrival, officers found the victim sitting on the porch with a bag of ice on her face. She had swelling on her face and cheeks and also had bloody lips, the report said. The woman told police she is nine months pregnant, it said.
The victim told police she and Carey got into an argument at a home in the 800 block of Elm Street because he allegedly saw her with another man, it said. He allegedly began punching her multiple times in the face, knocking her to the ground. A witness told police Carey then allegedly kicked the woman in the head and shoulder area and later left the scene, the report said.
Medics treated the woman, but she refused to go to the hospital.
A warrant was issued for Carey’s arrest on Sunday evening. He was taken into custody on Monday night and booked into the Clark County Jail.
