Springfield home burglarized, hundreds of dollars in valuables missing

A Springfield woman says her house was burglarized and hundreds of dollars in jewelry was stolen.

Springfield police began their investigation at around 10 p.m. Sunday evening when they were called to a home on the 100 block of Walnut Street in reference to a burglary.

There, they met with a woman who said someone had broken into her home.

“I spoke with (the victim) who advised that her family left around 6 p.m.,” the report says. “She said they left in a little bit of a hurry and must have forgotten to lock the door. She said when they arrived home they found the front door partially standing open. She said no one was found inside and the rest of the doors and windows were locked and intact.”

The woman said she inspected the residence and found several items missing.

“The TV, Wii and vape were taken from the living room,” the report says. “Necklaces and medications were taken from the bathroom.”

No arrests have been made in the case, according to the report.

“No other items were noticed missing at this time,” the report says. “No suspect information was provided.”
