UPDATE @ 7:55 p.m.: A 25-year-old woman, engaged in a tussle with two other women, was run over by a vehicle in her yard in the 800 block of Innisfallen Avenue, according to witnesses.

She appears to have suffered injuries to her abdomen and leg, according to her sister. The woman was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center and then to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight. Her condition is not immediately known.

The vehicle that reportedly hit her fled.

Springfield police briefly chased a white Pontiac believed to be involved in the hit-and-run, according to police radio traffic. The car stopped at South Fountain Avenue and West Mulberry Street, and several officers — including a K-9 unit — began searching the area.

The incident reportedly began with an argument involving the victim and two other women at the address on Innisfallen, near Jackson Street.

“I just thought they (were) about to fight,” said the victim’s sister, Lynne Rinehart. She was upstairs and saw her sister engaged in a tussle with the two women. She heard a loud commotion and looked out to see a car in the yard with the front bumper all the way up to the porch.

“They ran her over,” Rinehart said.

She said her sister’s abdomen appeared to be cut open and her leg badly injured.
