Springfield police investigate a garage burglary on Cassilly Street.

A garage was broken into Friday and hundreds of dollars worth of tools were reported stolen.

Springfield police received a phone call around 5:45 p.m. on Friday in reference to a theft, according to a police report.

The victim told officers that garages at two of her properties in the 20 block of Cassilly Street were broken into sometime overnight and tools were stolen.

The two garages are attached to each other but unattached from the houses, the victim said.

“On the one side only damage to the double entry door was the only thing to be reported and no items stolen from this side,” the report says.

Officers then spoke to the resident of the other side of the property who said items were stolen from her side of the garage.

“She stated that the bottom of the door looked to be kicked in and this was how they were able to unlock the door. After gaining entry, the suspect or suspects opened the overhead garage door and removed the items from the garage,” the report says.

According to the report, the items stolen include a Poulan gas powered chainsaw, a weed eater gas blower, a Craftsman push gas mower and a Homelite weed wacker.

No suspect or witness information was available.

Springfield police continue their investigation into this burglary.
