Springfield police seeking identities of two bank robbers

Law enforcement are seeking to identify and find two Springfield bank robbers.

Springfield police have released images of the two bank robbers and are asking the public to help identify the suspect who robbed the NCF Savings Bank on Oct. 30 and the suspect that they say robbed the International Harvester Credit Union last week.

Springfield police began their investigation into the NCF Savings Bank holdup at around 5 p.m. on Oct. 30.

The robber passed a teller a note that read, “Robbery, I have a gun.” The teller gave the robber money from her drawer, according to Springfield police. The robber then turned to another teller and said, “Give me all of yours, too,” and the employee did as he asked.

The man fled on foot and was later seen heading south behind Kroger. The robber took the note with him and never showed a gun, according to police. Witnesses said he kept his hands in his pockets as if he had a weapon.

Springfield police say the suspect was described to them as being white, around 35 to 45 years old, five foot seven inches tall and 150 lbs. He also had brown hair and a scruffy beard.

“He wore a floppy dark hat with a bandanna underneath, back hoodie, and green camouflage cargo pants. He wore dark sunglasses and had a tattoo of a clock on the top of his left hand,” A Springfield police press release says.

If anyone has information about the incident, they are asked to contact Det. Jamie McCutcheon at 937-324-7709.

Springfield police began their investigation into the IH Credit Union, 1427 W. First St., robbery at around 9:30 a.m. Nov. 12.

A Springfield police report of the incident said the man came into the bank and passed a teller a note.

“She stated the unknown suspect entered the bank and showed her a handwritten note,” the report says. “She said the note told her to hand him ‘all the money in large bills.’” She said the suspect kept the note. She said the suspect also verbally told her to ‘not push any buttons and give him everything.’”

The teller told police that she gave him an undetermined amount of cash at which time the suspect fled on foot out of the bank.

“The suspect was wearing dark gloves, a gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood cinched around his face and a dark knit toboggan,” the report says.

A review of area surveillance video revealed that the robber had arrived from the east in vehicle he parked on Ablemarle Road, a press release says.
