Springfield police began their investigation on Saturday when they were dispatched to the area of 908 W. Main St. for a robbery, according to an affidavit filed with the charges.

“In speaking with the victim, who is in a wheelchair, (she) advised she was leaving the store when the defendant, Montilita Allen, her roommate, approached her in the parking lot of Doc’s Drive-Thru,” the affidavit says. “She advised that Allen then struck her in the face and took $10 in assorted U.S. Currency.”
The woman said that during the robbery, her purse was torn and other items from her purse fell on the ground, the affidavit says.
Officers through an investigation were able to obtain video that showed the incident.
“In watching the video, a male who is identified as Allen, can be seen on video walking up to (the victim), swing his arm and appears to strike (the victim) in the face,” the affidavit says.
The affidavit says there is a witness in the video that can be seen as upset watching the incident. Officers were able to speak with him.
Officers arrested Allen, according to the affidavit, and he told them that he didn’t rob the victim. Instead, he said he took a cigarette from her and she gave him $9.
A next court date in the case has not been set.
