Springfield man accused of threatening to cut off woman’s head

A Springfield man accused of leaving threatening voice mail messages on the phone of a woman he knows is facing charges.

Doug Lafferty, 60, of 1628 W. High St., is facing one count of domestic violence, according to court records. He’s expected to appear in the Clark County Municipal Court at 10:30 a.m. today.

Springfield Police Division officers were sent to a home in the 1800 block of Broadway about a domestic incident at about 11:15 p.m. Jan. 14. A woman accused Lafferty of leaving threatening voice mails on her phone, including one that allegedly said he was going to send someone to the woman’s apartment and “have her head cut off,” according to a police report.

The man allegedly continued to call and leave threatening messages about “coming for her and her family,” the report said. A warrant for domestic violence was issued for Lafferty.

Lafferty was arrested at about 9 p.m. Wednesday. He was placed in the Clark County Jail.
