A woman is facing charges after she allegedly attempted to hide drugs from Springfield Police Division officers before being booked into the Clark County Jail.
Lindsay K. Edwards, 28, at-large, pleaded not guilty to drug possession and tampering with evidence in the Clark County Municipal Court on Tuesday. Bond was set at $10,000.
Springfield Police Division officers were called to a women’s center in the 1000 block of East High Street about a woman acting suspicisous, according to a police report. Police accused Edwards of being high, but she denied being on any drugs. She was then placed under arrest for having an outstanding warrant out of Montgomery County, the report said.
Before placing her in the cruiser, Edwards told police she did not have any drugs on her. Police were unable drugs after a search, the report said. Officers warned Edwards if drugs were found in the jail she would be charged with a felony, it said.
While being transported to the jail, the police cruiser got a flat tire. After placing Edwards in a different car, police found a plastic baggie containing a white rock like substance believed to be meth. While reviewing in-car cruiser cam video, Edwards is seen “laying down in the seat, and then leaning over to the area where the possible meth was located,” police wrote.
Edwards remains in the Clark County Jail.
