One person died in a shooting Sunday night in Springfield.

A man was shot some time around 7:15 p.m. in front of a business at 1222 S. Center St., according to a Springfield police report.

Officers responded around 7:23 p.m. to an emergency tone drop from dispatch in regards to a male being shot.

When police arrived, they found the man laying in the street in front of the address.

“Officers observed several gunshot wounds to his upper body,” the report said.

Officers were able to render first aid until the medics arrived.

Medics then transported the man to Springfield Regional Medical center, where he died from his wounds, the report said.

The victim’s identity will be released once next of kin has been notified.

No arrests have been made and no suspect information was available.

This shooting remains under investigation.
