OSP: 12 fatalities, 709 OVI arrests during Fourth of July reporting period

Twelve fatal crashes killed 12 people during the Fourth of July reporting period, July 3 through July 7, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Impairment was determined to be a factor in at least three of the crashes.

Troopers made 709 arrests for impaired driving including 507 for drug-related charges, responded to 809 crashes and made over 55,000 traffic contacts total including providing assistance to over 4,500 motorists.
