Police: Burglar hits gun shop in Springfield

Springfield police set up a perimeter early Wednesday morning looking for a man suspected of burglarizing a shooting range.

Springfield police said the burglar broke into the Miami Valley Shooting Range at 309 Leffel Lane around 3:50 a.m. Wednesday.

Responding to an alarm, officers said they spotted a man dressed in black, wearing a ski mask, coming out of the store. They said he ran into a wooded area and was carrying a duffel bag.

Investigators said they were concerned that theman might make it down to nearby Interstate 70 and get away.

Police said they called in the Ohio State Highway Patrol SWAT team and searched for several hours. The search was called off just before 8 a.m., and the man was not found.
