Opened in 1917, the Allan Apartments, named after Allan McGregor Jr., son of Allan McGregor of Brain-McGregor Real Estate and grandson of M.G. Stimmel, were located on the old William Whitley property at the southwest corner of High and East Streets.
It was touted as one of the most modern apartment buildings in Ohio and was already at full occupancy well before opening. The building was equipped with a vacuum vapor heating system, an incinerator plant, and a complete laundry.
Today, while hidden behind trees and ivy, the Allan Apartments still stand at the corner of East High Street and East Street.
