Flooding is the second leading cause of weather-related deaths. Do not drive through flooded roadways. When water covers the road, drivers cannot always determine the depth of the water or the condition of the road under the water, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
>> Tornado touches down in West Alexandria after strong storms, winds
Shortly before 8:30 p.m., a Severed Thunderstorm Warning was issued by the National Weather Service as a strong to potentially severe line of thunderstorms was approaching the western boarder of Preble County.
This line of storms had a history of producing damaging winds of at least 60 mph, Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs said. As the line entered the county, it began to bow and break as it moved into the eastern side of the county.

If atmospheric conditions are favorable, the segmenting of the line storms can cause a brief spin-up tornado. The term for this type of tornado is QLCS (Quasi-linear Convective System). QLCS’ tend to be brief and hard to detect.
