60-year-old man dies in Champaign County crash

A 60-year-old Bellefontaine man died in a crash in Champaign County early Thursday morning.

Larry Quiram died following a two-vehicle crash about 12:30 a.m. Thursday in the 6000 block of Calland Road, southwest of West Liberty.

Christopher Jablonka, 34, of St. Paris, was headed southbound when he went left of the center lane in a 2006 Chevy Silverado and collided head-on with a 1998 Ford F-150 heading northbound driven by Quiram, according to a Champaign County Sheriff’s Office crash report.

Champaign County Coroner Josh Richards pronounced Quiram dead at the scene.

A CareFlight medical helicopter transported Jablonka to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton. He remained in the hospital Thursday afternoon but his condition wasn’t immediately available.

Anita Morris, 59, a passenger in Quiram’s vehicle, and Jablonka’s passenger, Loren Wisma, 30, were both taken from the scene by ambulance to a hospital for medical treatment. It wasn’t clear which hospital they were taken to and the current conditions of both women weren’t available.

Alcohol is suspected as a possible factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s report.

The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident. The case will be presented to Prosecutor Kevin Talebi for consideration of criminal charges, the report says.
