Xenia police nab suspect just after restaurant break-in

XENIA — A call from a concerned citizen helped Xenia police arrest a 33-year-old Dayton man who reportedly broke into New China Restaurant early Sunday morning.

Prompted by a call at 3:13 a.m. Sunday, officers heard a crashing noise and found a man wearing all black clothing and running from the New China Restaurant toward Kroger.

Jason Gray was apprehended without incident. Officers found that the restaurant had been broken into and found property from the restaurant and a large quantity of marijuana in the suspect’s vehicle.

Gray was charged with felony breaking and entering and misdemeanor criminal damaging, criminal trespass, theft and obstructing official business.

Gray is being held in the Greene County Jail on a $150,000 bond and was to be arraigned today in Xenia Municipal Court. He could face more charges after the case is reviewed by the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office.
