Woman’s purse reported stolen at local thrift store in Springfield

A woman reported to Springfield police her purse was stolen while she was shopping at a local thrift store.

The victim said she was at the Salvation Army Family Store and set her purse down when another woman stole it, according to a Springfield police report. The incident happened at around 12 p.m. Wednesday, the police report says.

“(The) suspect grabbed the purse … and fled,” the police reports says.

The victim didn’t see the suspect take the purse, the report says, but the incident was captured on surveillance video.

The suspect is unknown, according to the report, but is described as a woman between 40 and 45 years old. She was wearing a black jacket with white sleeves, black pants and had glasses.

The case is under investigation, the report says.
