Newly released surveillance video shows the suspect — dressed in camouflage and wearing what appears to be a bullet-proof vest — enter the store around 12:45 p.m. Sunday at 1756 Limestone St.

He jumps over the counter, threatens employees with his gun and demands cash. Out of view of the camera, police said he strikes one worker with his weapon, knocking him to the floor.

The robber makes off with a small amount of money before jumping back over the counter and walking out the door.

Springfield police detective Ron Jordan said the robbery happened in less than a minute. He is hoping the video will lead to the suspect’s identity and eventual capture.

“Put that information out there to the public. Those people are our eyes and ears out there,” he said.

The robber is described as 6 feet, 2 inches, 190 pounds. He was wearing camo, tan boots, a ski mask and hood showing only his eyes.

Though he was mostly covered, the victims did spot something unique.

“They did notice that a tattoo was on his face, under the mask maybe on his right eye. Possibly in the shape of a scorpion,” Jordan said.
