Sean M. Vilneff, 35, and Amanda S. Virgin, 32, were arrested and charged with one count of child endangering. They are both expected to appear at the Clark County Municipal Court at 10:30 a.m. today, according to court records.

Police were called to a business in the 2400 block of East Main Street at about 6:50 p.m. Thursday after an employee saw the child running naked in the roadway.

The employee grabbed the child and took him inside the store to get him out of traffic. Several cars had passed by the child without seeing him, the employee told police. Medics were also called to treat the child, who allegedly had bite marks on his leg and his bottom, the report said.

Police began to search for the child’s parents at the Fairfax Motel across the street. Officers spoke with Vilneff, who told police he was missing one of his children. He initially told police he was watching the children and that the mother was not involved. After police told him the child had been transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center, he told police he was sleeping and that the mother was watching the children.

Officers said Virgin was allegedly avoiding them, but was later found in another room. She told police she was nervous because she was on probation and recently relapsed on heroin. The bite marks on the child were allegedly from bed bugs at another motel the family was staying at, Virgin told police.

The children were placed in the custody of Child Protective Services, while Vilneff and Virgin were placed in the Clark County Jail.
