Springfield woman accused of trying to gouge sister’s eyes out

A Springfield woman has been accused of trying to gouge out her sister’s eyes during an alleged fight over “parenting decisions,” according to court records.

Sherrie M. Stewart, 33, of 429 N. Jackson St., was arraigned Monday in Clark County Municipal Court on charges of assault and domestic violence. Both charges are first degree misdemeanors. She pleaded not guilty and her bond was set at $1,025.

DETAILS: Springfield man accused of sexually assaulting 3 year old

The charges stem from an incident in late May when police were dispatched to a home in the 500 block of Chestnut Avenue, court records say. The victim told police she was babysitting Stewart’s children and an alleged argument over ensued when Stewart returned home, according to court records.

The victim told police Stewart allegedly tried to gouge her eyes out and grabbed her around the neck. Court records say police noticed scratches around the victim’s neck and red marks around her right eye.
