Springfield teen shooting victims recovering, police investigating

A 13-year-old girl and a 19-year-old man shot inside a South Burnett Road home almost two weeks ago are recovering from their injuries.

The girl, who police said was shot in the femoral artery of her leg, is still recovering in the hospital, Sgt. Jeff Flores with the Springfield Police Division said.

Kyle Domanek, 19, who was shot at least five times during the home invasion, was expected to be released from Miami Valley Hospital on Tuesday, Flores said.

Both victims were shot inside a home in the first block of South Burnett Road on Aug. 18, police said.

Domanek told police he was possibly “set up” in the attack, and games and money were taken from him before the shooters opened fire, according to police reports.

The attack was “targeted,” Springfield Police Division Chief Stephen Moody said the day after the shooting.

Detectives continue to investigate and are following leads, and have asked anyone with information to call police at 937-324-7685.
