Springfield police responded Tuesday afternoon to what is the city’s third shooting in two weeks.
Details of the most recent shooting are limited. Officers responded to a home on the 500 block of Homeview Avenue at around 1:40 p.m.
A man was shot in the chest, according to Springfield police, and reports are that a medical helicopter was called to transport the victim from Springfield Regional Medical Center.
The incident is the third shooting in Springfield since July 26. Springfield Police Division responded to a shooting on that day to the area of Todd Avenue and Selma Road.
A police report says officers found a 26-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. The man was expected to survive.
On Sunday, officers responded to a home on Delcourt Drive where they found another 26-year-old shot.
“(The victim) was suffering from multiple gun wounds to his chest, left arm, left ribcage area and lower back,” a police report says.
Miami Valley Hospital officials confirmed he was still in the hospital Tuesday afternoon, but could not provide his condition.
