Springfield police report identifies woman killed in Sunday crash

A Springfield police report of a Sunday fatal crash identifies a 35-year-old woman as the victim.

Jessica Cydrus, of Springfield, was driving a Toyota Camry east on John Street around 4:15 p.m. when an SUV that was speeding drove through a stop sign at Potage Path, smashing into the driver’s side of the vehicle, according to police.

The Camry came to a rest against a telephone pole, according to the report. Cydrus was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, according to the report.

A passenger in the Camry, Jamie Salters, was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by EMS.

The driver of the SUV was identified as 18-year-old Micah Byrd, of Springfield. He was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center, according to the report.

Witnesses said three passengers from the Saturn Vue fled the scene, police said. No charges have been filed and the crash is still under investigation.
