Springfield police are investigating two vehicle damage reports involving a garden tool.

Officers were dispatched around 10:25 a.m. Monday to the 1000 block of Thrasher Street regarding a criminal damaging complaint, according to a Springfield police report.

When crews arrived, the victim told officers his 2011 Ford Econoline van was parked in front of his house around 9 p.m. on Sunday and he found the damage around 4 a.m. on Monday.

The victim said his “rear driver side window had been shattered, and a gardening paver was laying by the rear driver side wheel,” the report says.

Officers later spoke with a second victim around 3:30 p.m. regarding a separate criminal damaging complaint, according to a Springfield police report.

The victim said that she parked her 2016 Honda Accord on the street in front of her house in the 1600 block of Fulton Avenue around 6 p.m. on Sunday and noticed the damaged around 1 p.m. on Monday.

The victim told police that “she noticed that a landscaping paver had been thrown through her rear window, shattering it and destroying a speaker on the rear dashboard,” the report says.

No suspect information was available for either incident, and Springfield police continue their investigations.
