Springfield Police and Fire Division are investigating a pickup truck fire that was reported early Friday morning as an arson.

Officers were dispatched around 2:15 a.m. Friday morning to the 500 block of East Euclid Avenue to assist the Springfield Fire Division with a pickup truck that was on fire in the backyard of the residence, according to a police report.

When police arrived, they spoke with the owner of the truck who said, “his brother woke him up after hearing the dog barking and checking the back yard to see the vehicle in flames.”

The brother told police the fire happened between 1:55 a.m. to 2:05 a.m.

“Officers also spoke with the brother who said that he did not see anyone in the backyard with the vehicle when he went to check on the dog,” the report said.

The pickup had heavy burn damage to the front end and inside of the truck, the report said.

No suspect or witness information was available.

Springfield police and fire continue their investigation into this arson incident.
