Springfield police began their investigation when they were called to a pizza store on South Limestone Street in reference to a man who was causing issues.

“Dispatch advised the suspect … threatened to kill employees after asking for money,” an affidavit filed with the charges says. “They advised he then left the store…”

Officers checked the area and found Strodes who matched the description, the affidavit says. He was intoxicated and was being disorderly at a gas station, according to the affidavit.

“While officers were at Speedway, (a security guard) approached officers and advised that Mr. Strodes had also trespassed onto Kroger property, pushed him then threatened to kill him as well,” the affidavit says.

Officers then went and interviewed employees at Dominos who told them the dispute started over change.

“(The witness) advised that Mr. Strodes entered the business and first asked for change for $5,” the affidavit says. “He advised Mr. Strodes then began asking for more money than what he was offering.”

After the employee refused, Strodes allegedly made threats on the employee’s lives.

There was not a next court date set in the case.
