Springfield man accused of shooting woman in leg

A Springfield man was indicted in connection to shooting a woman in the leg.

Joshua Webb, 31, was indicted in Clark County Common Pleas Court on two counts of felonious assault. A next court date wasn’t set in the case.

Springfield police began their investigation on July 16 at around 11:30 p.m., according to an affidavit filed in Clark County Municipal Court.

“(A woman) had a gunshot wound through her right calf that went through both sides,” according to the affidavit.

Officers treated the woman while others collected evidence around the scene, the affidavit says, and the woman told her that Webb was the suspect.

“She stated that Mr. Webb was at her house and she kicked him out,” the affidavit says. “He then came running by and started shooting at her and then ran off.”

Other officers in the area were alerted and two were able to find Webb at a home on Linden Avenue.

“Eventually suspect Joshua Webb attempted to sneak out the back and was detained,” the affidavit says.

Officers said they spoke to the residents at the Linden Avenue address and were allowed to search the home.

“A Hi-Point .45 caliber handgun was located in the kitchen cabinet under the sink, which is where Mr. Webb was observed,” the affidavit says.
