Springfield man accused of OVI with 6 kids in the car

A Springfield man was charged with endangering children after he was stopped by Enon police officers and accused of driving under the influence of his child’s medication.

Darren Howard, 27, of 121 S. Western Ave., was arrested on July 6 for recklessly operating a Dodge van with six children under the age of 18 inside the vehicle, according to Clark County Municipal Court records.

If convicted, Howard faces up to six months in jail or a $1,000 fine for the first-degree misdemeanor. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday morning but the case was continued.

After being stopped for driving left of center, Howard allegedly told police he had taken Adderall, a prescription that had been filled for his child earlier in the day, according to court records. Police alleged they found the medication in the car, which showed about seven pills missing. Marijuana was also found in the car, police said.

Howard was also issued citations for OVI, driving under suspension, no operating license and marked lanes.
