Springfield Japanese steakhouse burglarized: money, food stolen

A burglary was reported at a Springfield steakhouse where three cases of filet mignon and money were taken, according to a Springfield police report.

Police responded to Sakura Japanese Steakhouse, 1781 N. Bechtle Ave., Monday morning because an alarm went off in the building.

“When we arrived at the business, we noticed the rear door was damaged and opened,” the report says. “The business alarm could be heard as we entered the business to check for workers or suspects.”

As officers searched the building, they noticed the front door was damaged too, the report says, including the glass insert which was shattered. They witnessed other damage, the report says.

“The office door was pried opened and a safe inside the office was entered and ransacked,” the report says.

There is video of the incident, the report says. No arrests have been made, according to the police report.
