Springfield father accused of overdosing in front of kids

A Springfield father has been charged with child endangering after police alleged he overdosed while three children were home.

Marcus Mitchell Shelton, 37, pleaded not guilty to three counts of endangering children in Clark County Municipal Court on Monday. Police responded to his home in the 700 block of Garfield Avenue on Friday evening and found Shelton lying on the living room floor unresponsive, according to court records.

Three children were home with him at the time, records show. A neighbor walked over to talk with him and noticed him on the floor, court records say, and called 9-1-1.

He was revived after he received 8 mg of Narcan, according to the report. Shelton allegedly told police he had snorted something but couldn’t say what it was, the report says.
