Authorities responded to an apartment in the 400 block of Park Place on Friday, April 14, on a report of an overdose.

Police alleged they found Martin and Amanda M. Tarbutton, 29, of 776 N. Florence Ave., unconscious on the floor of the apartment, according to court records. Two children, 4 and 8 years old, were reportedly left unattended and went to a neighbor’s apartment.

Medics transported both suspects to the Springfield Regional Medical Center, where several doses of Narcan were administered. Tarbutton told authorities she had purchased $20 worth of cocaine, and Martin told authorities he has been addicted to cocaine since he was 13 years old, court records say.

A family member took the two children into temporary custody.

Tarbutton also has pleaded not guilty to two counts of child endangering, court records show.
