MORE:Â Springfield man allegedly threatens to kill store employee over change
Springfield police went to a home on West High Street on Tuesday, according to an affidavit filed with the charges, due to the child being injured. It is unclear from the affidavit how the child became injured.
“Officers dealt with the emergency and then took note of the living conditions of the home,” the affidavit says.
There were a lot of bugs in the house, the affidavit says.
“There was water all over the kitchen floor and the refrigerator had hot sauce spilled all over. There was not much food at all and the food that was in there looked like it was no longer edible. The kitchen sink was also full of water and it had a few dishes in it. The floor your shoes stuck to it as you walked through. There were dog feces about the floor and there was standing water in the basement. There was trash piled outside the house as well as some inside since there was no trash pick-up.”
