“Dispatch got calls about a male running into traffic attempting to get hit by vehicles,” the report says. “Upon arrival, officers located the male sitting on the sidewalk. Subjects in the area advised the male was lying in the road trying to get ran over by a semi-truck.”
Officers approached the man, later identified as Jones, and found him without a shirt and sweating profusely.
“Officers asked the male if he was OK but he refused to speak,” the report says. “The male then clinched his fist and began punching himself in the face multiple times. Officers advised the male to stop but he refused. The male then began punching the concrete sidewalk causing injuries to his hands.”
Officers restrained Jones for his own safety, the affidavit says, but he allegedly began to fight them.
“The male began fighting with officers grabbing (an officer’s) left hand and biting her with his teeth causing an injury,” the affidavit says. “The male bit (an officer) on the left ring finger through her gloves breaking the skin.”
The man continued to bite the officer until officers were able to forcefully remove him, the affidavit says.
