Several vehicles in Springfield were damaged and broken into over the weekend, and some items were reported stolen.

Two people reported that their vehicles were damaged, and two others reported that their vehicles were broken into sometime over the weekend, according the several Springfield police reports.

Springfield dispatch received a call around 11:10 a.m. on Sunday in reference to damage to a 2006 Chevy Equinox in the 800 block of Selma Road.

“(The victim) advised that sometime overnight, an unknown suspect shattered the rear windshield to her vehicle through unknown means,” the report says.

A short time later, officers were dispatched around 3 p.m. to the 1000 block of Cypress Street in reference to a 1992 Chevy truck that was damaged overnight.

When police arrived, the victim told them, “he found that front drivers side window of his truck had been shattered,” the report says.

The victim said he last checked on his truck around 2 p.m. on Saturday to move it to the alley due to street cleaning on Monday.

“He advised his neighbor contacted him and told him that several vehicles in the area had been damaged overnight,” the report says. “(The victim) stated he walked back to the alley and found that the window had been smashed with what appeared to be a chunk of asphalt.”

No items were reported stolen from either vehicle.

Springfield dispatch got a call around 12:15 p.m. on Sunday regarding a theft that happened overnight in the 1600 block of Highland Avenue.

“(The caller) stated that overnight, an unknown male gained entry to her Dodge Avenger, which was parked in front of her residence, and stole $80 in cash from inside the vehicle,” the report says.

Springfield dispatch got another call around 11:30 p.m. on Friday regarding a 2006 Ford F-150 that had been rummaged through in the 1400 block of North Fountain Avenue.

“The victim noticed that her glove box and center console had been rummaged through. The only thing (the victim) noticed missing was change,” the report says.

The weekend break-ins follow a series of others reported last week.

Four people reported to police on Wednesday morning between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. that their vehicles were broken into in an unknown manner sometime overnight and their belongings were stolen, according to several Springfield police reports.

One victim said someone entered her vehicle in the 200 block of Glenmore Drive and removed personal belonging, ear buds and money; The next victim said someone entered his vehicle in the 800 block of Farnam Street and removed personal belongings; Another victim said someone entered his 2014 Silverado in the 30 block of East Third Street and removed his nearly $1,000 work computer; and the last victim said someone entered her 2012 Jeep in the 100 block of Roosevelt Drive and removed a Vera Bradley diaper bag and some change.

No suspect or witness information was available for any of the eight reported incidents, and Springfield police continue their investigations.
