Report: Woman robbed at gunpoint while sitting in vehicle at Snyder Park

A woman told Springfield police she was reportedly robbed ay gunpoint while sitting in her vehicle at Snyder Park.

A woman told Springfield police she was reportedly robbed ay gunpoint while sitting in her vehicle at Snyder Park.

A woman was reportedly robbed at gunpoint Thursday while she was sitting in her vehicle at Snyder Park.

Springfield police responded around 3:30 p.m. to a home on West Mulberry Street to speak with the victim regarding a an unknown male robbing her,    according to a police report.

When officers arrived, the victim said around 3:20 p.m. she was at Snyder Park eating when a man approached her vehicle.

“(The victim) said when the male approached her vehicle, he asked her if he could have a cigarette. She advised he then pulled out a silver handgun and pointed it at her. She stated she told the male he did not have to do this,” the report says. “She advised he then reached into the vehicle and took her wallet before he left on foot toward Bechtle Avenue.”

The victim told police she was scared so she left the park and went home to call police.

She told officers the man was wearing a red and black jacket, blue jeans, an Ohio State winter hat and white Nike shoes. She also said the man had a small mustache and beard, and had a tattoo of a small cross on the top of his right index finger, the report says.

According to the report, the victim’s wallet contained her and her child’s social security cards, her CareSource insurance card, her pay card, and cash.

No other suspect information was available and no arrests have been made.

Springfield police continue their investigation into this robbery.
