Prison homicide victim struck with concrete block

A man suspected of being killed by another inmate at the Lebanon Correctional Institute Tuesday was struck multiple times in the head with a concrete block, according to state troopers.

Luther Wade, 26, was assaulted by another inmate during an altercation at the facility around 1 p.m., according to an incident report.

The 26-year-old was transported to Atrium Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries, according to the Warren County Coroner’s Office.

Troopers said they are questioning a person of interest in the case, however are not releasing that individual’s identity pending approval of official charges.

The initial incident report from the Ohio Highway Patrol indicated murder charges may be pursued in the case.

Wade was admitted to the prison on Mar. 30 last year for aggravated burglary, a charge stemming from an incident in Clark County.

Wade was serving a 10 year sentence at the prison.
