A Springfield man who allegedly admitted to police he’s a meth dealer faces more than 20 drug-related charges after police said they found 136 grams of crystal meth and other drugs after he passed out behind the wheel of a car.

Robert D. Whitt, 29, whose address is listed as at large, pleaded not guilty in Clark County Municipal Court on Tuesday to 28 charges, including possession and trafficking in drugs and improperly handling firearms in a vehicle. His bond was set at a total of $125,000.

Officers responded to a report of a man passed out in a car in the 300 block of Lincoln Park Circle shortly after 9 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11. They allegedly found Whitt behind the wheel of a 2002 Ford Taurus, according to court records, and noticed a plastic bag sticking out of Whitt’s left pants pocket that contained an unknown white substance.

Whitt allegedly told police the bag contained crystal methamphetamine, court records say. Police also alleged they found cash, drugs and drug paraphernalia throughout the vehicle, along with a handgun in the back seat of the car. Some of the drugs were packed in small plastic bags, indicating there were being used for individual sales, court records say.

The report says when officers asked Whitt if he had a job, he allegedly responded, “I’m a meth dealer.”

Whitt was placed in the Clark County Jail.
