2 Chinese restaurants robbed in week

Springfield police responded Tuesday night to the second reported robbery of a Chinese restaurant this week.

According to a police report, a man walked into China Palace in the 1100 block of East Home Road about 9:30 p.m., pointed a handgun at a female employee, and demanded money be placed into a bag. He then fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

The employee told police the hood of a sweatshirt he was wearing was pulled over his head.

On Sunday, a man carrying a handgun is alleged to have robbed Dragon China in the 2000 block of East Main Street about 8:45 p.m. That man reportedly held the neck of a hooded sweatshirt over his mouth.

Theft

• A shotgun and shotgun barrel and a jar containing coins, valued at more than $1,050, were reported stolen between July 4 and 7 during a home burglary in the 2700 block of Dorothy Layne Avenue, Springfield.
