Pair hospitalized after dog attack

A pit bull attacked a man and woman early Sunday, Nov. 29, causing the woman to be transported by helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital with serious injuries to her face, arms and legs, while the man, whose injures were also described as serious, was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center. Their identities and conditions were not released Monday.

The man owned the dog, said James Straley Clark County Humane Society director. The dog was shot by police at the scene of the attack — the 400 block of Gallager Street.

“Apparently the dog went off (when police arrived) and started attacking again,” Straley said.

The Humane Society will continue with its investigation, he said.

Internet purchase of car goes bad

A woman from the 600 block of East Northern Avenue reported Monday, Nov. 30, she purchased a vehicle over the Internet from Craig’s List, but never received the car.

According to a police report, the woman purchased a car from a seller in Seattle, Wash., and was instructed to send $4,126 to an EBay regional manager in Miami, Fla.

The woman sent payment but has not received the car.

Power equipment reported stolen

Items reported stolen to police include:

• A man from the 500 block of East Norman Avenue reported a power saw, valued at $400, stolen from his home between 8 and 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28.

• A man from the 4900 block of Penny Pike reported power tools, including a tile saw and a mitre saw valued at $787, stolen from a job site in the 1800 block of Highland Avenue between 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, and 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28.

Police say suspect resisted arrest

David Marshall McWhorter, 38, of North Fountain Avenue, was arrested Sunday, Nov. 29, on charges of resisting arrest and obstruction. A weapons charge was also filed.

According to a police report, police were called to Scott Street Bar, 425 Harrison St., on a report of a patron with a gun.

When officers told McWhorter they were going to pat him down for weapons, he became combative, the report stated. Officers fought with McWhorter inside and outside the bar.

He was taken to the Clark County Jail.
