‘Old man’ mask bandit strikes again

An armed robber wearing an “old man” Halloween mask struck a bank in West Milton today, Aug. 27, and is suspected of prior robberies in New Carlisle, Enon and Indiana.

The suspect robbed a U.S. Bank on South Miami Street in West Milton shortly before 10 a.m. today, according to West Milton police.

“The suspect came in wearing a Halloween mask of an old man with white hair, wearing rubber gloves and brandishing a black gun and was seen leaving the area in a blue Chevy Cobalt,” said West Milton police Sgt. Randy Shade.

This matches the description of an Aug. 10 robbery of Wesbanco in New Carlisle, and earlier robberies in Enon and Indiana, Shade said.

No one has been hurt in any of the robberies, but the suspect was wielding a semi-automatic handgun, Shade said.

In today’s robbery, the suspect entered the bank brandishing the gun and a white sack and demanded large bills from the tellers. Police did not disclose how much money, if any, the suspect escaped with.

The Chevrolet Cobalt escaped southbound on Ohio 48. Shade said the police department is working with the FBI and nearby law enforcement agencies on apprehending the suspect.
