3 masked men use guns, machete in reported Springfield robbery

Three masked men reportedly took over $1,500 worth of items after allegedly robbing two occupants in a Springfield apartment early Monday morning using two guns and a machete.

Springfield police responded around 3 a.m. to the 1300 block of Delta Road on reports of “three males that had kicked in the door and were armed with handguns and a machete, burglarizing the place,” according to a police report.

When officers arrived, they spoke with two residents who said three masked males came to their door and wanted to come in to “chill.” The residents didn’t let them in, so the three left but came back a short time later.

According to the report, one of the suspects started kicking the door in, and after about three kicks, was able to break the door. All three suspects then went into the apartment; two armed with a black semi-automatic handgun and one armed with a machete.

The other two suspects stayed at the front door, both with their handguns on (the other victim) who was sitting on the couch.

“They asked (the other victim) multiple questions regarding where their ice stash was located inside the residence,” the report says.

This victim told both suspects he didn’t know what they were looking for.

The suspect in the bedroom then yelled for help from the other suspects to help him carry a black Acer laptop, an Android phone with a broken screen, a Polaroid movie player and a Verizon Android table out of the apartment.
