Man, woman indicted on man’s 4th of July death

Two people have been indicted on involuntary manslaughter and complicity charges after an investigation into the death of a Springfield man over the 4th of July.

Erin Nicole Mansfield, 39, and Charles Anthony Rogers, 49, both of 4060 St. Paris Pike, were charged by a Clark County grand jury Monday in the death of 50-year-old Todd Griffith.

Griffith died July 4 after German Twp. medics and Clark County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the IOOF Campgrounds, 3607 Syder-Domer Road, on the holiday on reports of a fight with a man not breathing.

Mansfield and Rogers were identified as suspects at the scene, deputies said. An eye witness at the scene said Griffith was in a fight with a woman who choked him.

During detectives’ questioning, Rogers said he, Mansfield and Griffith “always wrestle,” according to a sheriff’s office incident report.

Mansfield and Rogers will be arraigned in a Clark County Common Pleas courtroom later this week.
