Man taken by CareFlight after shooting no longer hospital patient

Man shot in Springfield on Friday night is no longer listed as a patient at the hospital.

Officers responded just before 10 p.m. on Friday to the 20 block of South Light Street for a person who was reportedly shot, according to a Springfield police report.

When police arrived, they found a man “lying on the floor with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his neck,” the report said.

Officers applied pressure to the wound until medics arrived to help the shooting victim.

The victim was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center and then by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital, the report said.

As of Monday morning, the victim was no longer listed as a patient at the hospital, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Springfield Police Detectives were also called to the scene to continue the investigation.

According to the report, no suspect information is available other than he was described to be wearing dark clothing.

No witness information was available.

Springfield police continue their investigation into this shooting.
