Man gets 3 years in prison in heroin case

A 32-year-old Springfield man has been sentenced to three years in prison for being involved in selling heroin.

Donte Boddie learned of his fate after being convicted of two counts of trafficking drugs and single counts of possession of drugs and complicity to trafficking drugs.

He also forfeited $652.

In October, Boddie pleaded guilty to trafficking drugs, complicity to trafficking drugs, and two counts of possession of drugs.
In May, he was indicted for three felony counts of possession of drugs with a forfeiture specification, and a misdemeanor count of aggravated menacing.

On May 9, Boddie was arrested on felony drug charges near his former Bellefontaine residence. It was his third drug-related arrest this year.
The Logan County Joint Drug Task Force was investigating drug activity at an apartment complex on Miami Avenue.

Boddie, who was located outside the apartment, was in possession of a large amount of heroin along with crack cocaine and Suboxan.
The heroin was packaged for sale with a portion placed into separate capsules.

Boddie was charged with possession of heroin, trafficking heroin, and possession of crack cocaine.
Authorities also recovered $350 in cash and Boddie's cell phone.
