Man arrested in assault on police

Christopher L. Gibbs, 24, address at large, was arrested and taken to Clark County Jail on Sunday afternoon and charged with two counts of assault on a police officer, one count of resisting arrest and three warrants for fugitive from justice.

Officers and an employee of John Craven Bail Bonds approached Gibbs in the Meijer parking lot at 1500 Hillcrest Ave. and notified him he was under arrest on the three active warrants.

Gibbs began fighting with officers as he was being arrested, ending up with all three on the ground, according to police. Gibbs was pepper sprayed before being taken into custody.

One of the officers was transported by medics to the Springfield Regional Medical Center for injuries to his arm. After placing Gibbs in jail, the other officer was transported to the hospital for a possible head injury and for injuries to his arms.

Gibbs pleaded not guilty to the assault and resisting arrest charges during his arraignment Monday in Clark County Municipal Court. Bond was set at $20,000 for the assault charges and $1,000 for the resisting arrest charge.

SPRINGFIELD — Joshua L. Morris, 22, of 122 N. Burnett Road, was arrested and placed in Clark County Jail on two counts of domestic violence after an incident around 7:15 p.m. Sunday.

Juvenile charged with assault

SPRINGFIELD — A 12-year-old girl was arrested and taken to the juvenile detention facility around 1 a.m. Monday on one count of domestic violence and one count of assault. The girl allegedly punched her father’s live-in girlfriend in the nose, causing it to bleed.

Arson suspect pleads not guilty

SPRINGFIELD — Shane Brauning, 39, of 515 E. Liberty St., accused in an aggravated arson Friday morning at 525 E. Liberty St., pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Monday in Clark County Common Pleas Court. Bail was set at $25,000.
