Man arrested after making threats

A Springfield man was arrested late Wednesday night after he was accused of threatening to shoot a man with what was later determined to be a BB gun.

According to a report from the Springfield Police Division, Breon M. Campbell, 23, of 221 N. Race St., was arrested on a charge of aggravated menacing, as well as a previous bench warrant for driving without a license.

The report showed police responded to North Race Street between 9:10 and 9:17 p.m. on a report of disorderly conduct. Several people at the scene refused to cooperate and were detained by police, and one of the suspects told police that Campbell had threatened to shoot and kill him with a handgun. He told police that Campbell then hid the weapon under a T-shirt when police arrived.

Officers found the weapon, and determined it was a BB gun.
