In addition, police reportedly located four stolen memory cards on Cupps. He also allegedly switched out his work boots with a pair of tennis shoes he was wearing inside the store when he was approached by officers.
The store estimated the damage to the jewelry case to be approximately $200. The total value of the property Cupps allegedly attempted to steal was $2,102.96, according to the police report.
Cupps was charged with misdemeanor counts of theft and vandalism. He was ordered into Clark County Municipal Court on Monday but did not appear for his arraignment. His hearing was continued to Tuesday. If Cupps does not appear, a warrant will be issued for his arrest, court officials said.
