‘John Doe’ ID’d in Clark County antique mall theft

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man accused of stealing a $3,000 ring from Heart of Ohio Antique Center as 53-year-old Calvin Larkins.

Sheriff’s office investigators said Larkins had been uncooperative in giving them his correct personal information. While he was being arraigned in Clark County Municipal Court on Wednesday, he told the judge his name was ‘Tyrone Ford.’

Investigators worked on Wednesday afternoon to fingerprint Larkins to get a positive ID.

Deputies say Larkins stole a $3,000 ring from Heart of Ohio Antique Center from a display case on Tuesday and then left in a car outside the mall.

The car was later stopped on I-70 westbound near I-675. Officials credited the antique center’s employees for getting a good look at the car and license plate as it left.

Court documents say Larkins hid the ring in his pants until it fell out in an interview room at the sheriff’s office.

Larkins is being charged with felony theft, falsification and obstructing official business.
