Handgun, electronics, tools reported stolen in Springfield burglary

A Springfield home and shed were broken into and several items were reported stolen.

Officers were dispatched around 1 p.m. Saturday to the 200 block of N. Western Ave. in reference to a burglary, according to a Springfield police report.

When crews arrived, they spoke with the victim who said he left his house overnight and that, “the residence was secure at that time.”

“(The victim) advised that sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., his residence was entered by force through the rear entry door,” the report says.

Officers observed the glass pane next to the doorknob was broken out and shards of glass was scattered around a large rock that was laying on the kitchen floor.

“(The victim) advised that several items had been removed from his residence, all of which were in his bedroom on the second floor of the residence,” the report says.

According to the report, the items stolen include a 9mm Glock handgun, a 42-inch Samsung Touch TV, a TV firestick, several knives, and various pieces of jewelry and watches.

A few days later, officers were dispatched around 2 p.m. on Monday to the same address in reference to a theft from a shed, according to a police report.

When crews arrived, the victim said that his shed was broken into sometime on Saturday and over $1,200 worth of items were stolen.

“There was a visible footprint on the door to the shed,” the report says. “(The victim) stated that several hand tools were taken from the shed.”

According to the report, the items stolen include a red air compressor, a tool box with miscellaneous hand tools, an electric circular saw and an electric coping saw.

No suspect information was available, and no arrests have been made.

Springfield police continue their investigation into these incidents.
