The victim told police the suspect crawled into the house through a basement window by prying the Plexiglas from the frame with an unknown tool.
“After making entry, the suspect turned off every circuit breaker before walking upstairs,” the report says. “In the master bedroom, the suspect cut a padlock to the closet door where a speaker and amplifier were stored. Next to the closet was a gun safe. The gun safe was opened and two firearms were retrieved from the safe. The suspect walked back downstairs with the items and opened a kitchen window and then fled the scene.”
Police found a latex glove and a bent metal ink pen on the floor in front of the safe, which police believe the suspect possibly used to pry the lock of the closet door, the report says. They also found fresh shoe prints on the kitchen floor and tire tracks in the mud outside.
According to the report, the items stolen include a Canik handgun, a Palmetto rifle, and an 18-inch sound cube speaker and amplifier.
The victim later found and reported that a third handgun, a Smith and Wesson semi-auto pistol, was also stolen.
No suspect information was available and Springfield police continue their investigation into this burglary.
